Cosmopolitan Rumor Update

The "worker" that reported the construction halt wrote back to further clarify the situation. It seems he got a few things wrong.

Firstly, the issue is with the Spa Tower,  not the Beach Club Tower.
Secondly, The halt is only for interior work on the Spa Tower, exterior work will continue.

The reason for the stall (I'll quote the informant):

"The owner does not like how the rooms are looking. My boss says it is being called a "major redesign". He also claims they may stall interior construction on the Beach Tower as well"

He also writes that he and other workers were laid off yesterday. I wish him the best of luck finding new work.

The owner? Who could that be? Deutsche bank? MGM? Do they have the money/time to make these kinds of changes? Kind of strange to have something like this so late in the game.

I know, it doesn't make much sense, but then, I'm just reporting it

I don't care that it doesn't make much sense!

I have a unit reserved at Cosmopolitan and I really appreciate all the information from VTAT because we get absolutely bugger all from Cosmopolitan!

The hotel/condo concept is dead for now, for numerous reasons. There is no way that Cosmo will try to finish and close sales in this market. They will finish the outside and then stop work on the inside of the building. I don't have any inside contacts, only common sense.

Looks like the rumor is true--the R-J reported today (Saturday) "Construction has stopped on a portion of the Cosmopolitan's west tower while some floors go through a redesign, sources familiar with the project said." The article (in business section) goes on to mention that 300 painters were laid off on Wednesday.....
