More on Tropicana's Makeover

I've added several new photos of the Tropicana 's makeover progress. I must say I am impressed - finally a makeover with some class and taste.

The white marble in the pit area is stunning and the new tables and chairs are classy. I saw lots of new slot machines in the casino.

The exterior is starting to transform as well, say goodbye to the terrible Fantasy Island theme that they installed in the 90's

The north half of the pool area is almost complete.

Take a look and chime-in with your thoughts

The casino pit looks nice!...the white marble accents with the new carpet really give a fresh look. The old Tiffany glass ceiling looks great with the new white borders and pillars--they should keep it! Outside will be greatly improved with the elimination of all that "Fantasy Island" facade--maybe return it towards its older, simpler design from the 70s. Overall--good job!

I'm impressed so far. I think the old Tiffany ceiling looks great with the new and improved decor.

Have they updated the tiffany ceiling? The photos show it as unchanged, which is a bad idea since it looks out of place with the card dealer tables.

Another problem with the south beach theme is not taking it far enough. It needs more decor and art deco/modernist theming.

I made a suggestion to them: If they decide to keep the Tiffany ceiling, they should back-light it with a more orange hued light so it won't clash as much with the new carpet - they liked my idea. But frankly, the Victorian design of the Tiffany ceiling does not compliment the clean Miami design they're going with.

Mark--I think you are right--they will likely change out the Tiffany. An employee there told me that crews had been placing up various "test" panels of new designs over parts of the Tiffany. In the process, there was damage to a few areas of the old glass which I could see for myself. If it is intended to keep the Tiffany, it would seem that they would take more care.

The makeover is not doing the trick for me. It looks like they are merely applying a white overlay. The place still looks the same old. The place is a dump. Tropicana is a bit of bore.

I really like what I see so far. However, I don't think the new paint and window clings on the Paradise tower look good at all. Hopefully they will realize their mistake and change it, like they did with the Planet Hollywood transformation.

I will be staying at the Trop this July...so far all is looking good and I'm excited to see the changes.. I wish more pool pics were available. It appears that the waterfall has been removed which I hope is not so...it added a lot to the Tropical theme.

I don't see why everyone now wants to stay at the Trop. It is still the dusty old place that was built in the 50's. They should have sticked with there old plans to build all of those big towers. But I guess they like to be boring. I am going to Vegas in June. I sure hope that every building in las Vegas that was built before the Mirage (not to be mistaken with the glass pool motel) would disappear.

Does that include Caesar's because that place looks prettey good after a few updates since it opened a few years after the Trop.
