What's Blowin' Up at the Trop
There are currently two demolition projects happening at the Tropicana. See them here
The old venue "The Cellar" is being ripped out to make way for a new nightclub. I know, I know - does Vegas really need another nightclub? Well, in this case the answer is a resounding YES. The Trop doesn't stand a chance of competing with the big-boys without one.
The other demo is a little more devastating, the entire 300-wing of Garden-Rooms is being removed (that's the odd wing that points toward the MGM Grand. This area will serve as a new entrance which will service the crowds waiting to enter the new nightclub, Don't worry, 80% of the Garden-Rooms are safe and will be renovated.

It is good to know that they are going to keep the majority of the Garden Wing rooms.... They really help maintain the classic atmosphere of the "old" Trop.....

Well, I suppose they can't keep everything. I'm just glad the old gal isn't being torn down completely.
I stayed in a 300 room in 2006. It was a bit tired looking, but the room was very large and I enjoyed my private lanai overlooking the secondary pool.
Overall, it was a very good deal on a tough-to-get-a-decent-rate-anywhere weekend.
I eagerly look forward to my next chance to check the new place out. All of the photos and renderings look great.

I use to stay at the trop until 2008. Then we moved down to the Flamingo because the trop was getting too out dated, and bad customer service. Visited this year while we were there and the renovations look great! Spoke with Nicole who is in charge of guest relations and she is an exciting woman to talk to. I think we are headed in the right direction with the Trop!!!!!

I am so glad they are destroying parts of the Tropicana. Finally they are destroying the old parts. On our trip back from Arizona we stopped at the Tropicana and it was boring. I also saw the Hoover Damb bypass bridge and it looked done. I wonder if it is.
