The Smith Center is a terrible building. What does this design say about the nuances of the site, city, region? It is an art-deco-esque design dropped in the middle of our downtown. It is a shame.

Some people claim Vegas tries too hard...I say, this isn't trying hard enough. How about some materials and aesthetic alignment with the environment? How about an architectural expression that isn't locked into a past style.

I'm happy to see the level of interest and development going on and yet to come in this absolutely UNIQUE place / opportunity that IS downtown Las Vegas. But the Smith Center succeeds only as a confidence builder in the viability of downtown development and to illustrate the city's commitment to downtown expansion. It fails architecturally. Which is sad - as our civic works should be cherished and tied to a true sense of place that helps define our past, present and future.

Ehh, not impressed with the low ceilings. 80's casino feel with that...hot dancers in the windows saved me from walking out. Sorry, i know you typically prefer people to agree with you, but i cannot on this one.

That photo quiz is hard... even the 'easy' ones I guessed wrong. I guess I'll have to get back to Vegas and refresh my knowledge. :)

Thanks for putting it together. I love the little tidbit/quizes on the site. :)

We must be reviewing a different resort. After almost 12 months, they apparently have forgotten there customers. 5 day stay - not one day without a major customer satisfaction blunder that would have been the subject of business 101 lectures.

Horrendous for all but the youngest night club visitors. Not what I would have expected for a location like this.

Although I'm excited for the purpose of this facility and it's location downtown, I still can't help but say it's the most aesthetically out of place building in our City. And that's saying something with pyramids, castles, villas and Frank Ghery within a few miles. They went out of their way to create an uptight, rigid building that is supposed to hold creative works of all kinds. This would be more at home at an East Coast University, but couldn't be more inappropriate for downtown Las Vegas.

Just one architect's opinion.
